A powerful practice to help us become more present, grounded, heart-centered and connected to Source is to become familiar with our orientation to the Seven Sacred Directions and the Vertical Axis of Consciousness. This is an ancient Native tradition that is of great importance for ceremonies and everyday life. Honouring the Seven Sacred Directions is a well-known practice for many spiritual purposes such as rituals, grounding, balancing, healing work, creating altars, connecting with the natural world and as a way to create from the sacred space of the heart. Through a very exciting personal and spiritual discovery, I’ve made connections between the seven directions, the vertical axis and the Torus: the process and structure of energy flow shaping the magnetic field generated by the heart. It is recommended that we are oriented in this space at all times.
How to orient yourself to the Seven Sacred Directions/Vertical Axis: Imagine yourself, right now, as a ‘point’ on this physical 3D Earth plane. Now imagine seven directions moving out from your body: the four basic directions: North, East, South and West, now add a 5th) straight up into the sky and a 6th) straight down into the Earth. The seventh direction is the center, the heart. Imagine this vertical axis flowing through your heart center, rising from the iron crystal in the middle of Earth, all the way to the middle of the Milky Way Galaxy.
The importance is how this practice connects us to the vertical axis, which connects us to all life. In her book Alchemy of Nine Dimensions, Barbara Hand Clow discusses how the vertical axis is anchored in the iron crystal core in the center of Earth and extends all the way up to the Galactic Center – the middle of our Milky Way Galaxy. By orienting ourselves with the Seven Sacred Directions, we align ourselves with the vertical axis, creating a powerful energy field that transforms us as we become fully expanded beings. By maintaining our physical orientation in 3D this way, we can live in presence and attract our heart’s truest desires while minimizing the influence of the collective egoic chatter (4D).
When I first started orienting myself in the seven directions and researching electromagnetic fields, I naturally made the connection to the torus, or the toroidal magnetic field. The torus is life’s natural energy flow process, forming a donut-like shape of continuous energy transformation. It is the fundamental structure of existence as it perfectly forms energy fields around all living entities, including Earth, humans, apples, trees, even tornadoes. The torus has a central axis in its center, which I believe can be likened to the vertical axis, as well as the seventh direction: our heart. What’s important to understand is how all life is connected through this vertical axis, which is apparent in the torus field and which runs through the hearts of all living beings. This is exciting because it gives credit to the notion of heart- or unity-consciousness. The same torodial field that surrounds humans surrounds the entire universe. I strongly believe in the importance of adopting a ‘bigger picture’ view of ourselves and reality, and understanding our essence in terms of energy, frequency and our inherent connection to all of life. Imagine the six directions moving out of the body forming a donut shape, continuously coming back into the center (vertical axis) to the seventh direction: the heart, and then back towards all six directions. This is visualizing your own magnetic field, which is very beneficial in terms of finding presence, balance, grounding, managing energy, connecting with the unity of life and returning to the heart center. This is an extremely powerful space for creation and transmutation.
In Drunvalo Melchizedeck’s book Living in the Heart, he discusses the heart’s toroidial field and recent research from Stanford University. Scientists at HeartMath have discovered that the heart has its own brain cells and actually creates the largest and most powerful energy field of any organ in the body. Knowing this, along with the visualization tools of the seven directions and vertical axis, we can more easily enter the sacred space of the heart and align ourselves with Source. Additional references about the Torus are below.
We can pray to and communicate with each direction to have a deeper connection with the energies in our Galaxy and Mother Gaia. We can use this ancient wisdom for our great benefit, as the directions are always present and available, waiting to commune with us in harmony. In native traditions, it’s believed that every direction is associated with a spirit/energy that can be called upon. Below you’ll find brief descriptions of each direction:
|North||Energies inspiring you to seek the most challenging outcome.||Wind, Intellect, Wisdom.|
|East||Spirits offering you creative guidance.||Fire, Vision, New Beginnings, Awareness.|
|South||Spirits supporting and nurturing you.||Water, Growth, Time, Healing.|
|West||Spirits showing you what you need to transform or remove.||Earth, Guidance, Direction.|
|Up||The gateway for higher dimensions.||Sky, Galaxies, Planets, Cosmic Consciousness, Light.|
|Down||Energies that can feed you with unlimited power.||Nature, Earth’s biosphere, Gaia, Planetary Consciousness.|
|Center||The Inner Self, Spirit, The All.||Divine Soul, Source, Unity.|
Orienting ourselves with the Seven Sacred Directions and the center of our torus field is simple and very powerful. Try it now, standing or sitting with a straight spine. You may begin to feel a wave of energy flow through you, and you may feel it more intensely in your heart space. I do this practice a few times a day; always when I wake up, beginning yoga or meditation, when I’m in crowds or whenever I begin to feel out of alignment. This powerful orientation brings me into my heart center and I can immediately begin to feel my energy realign and more connected with Source. It’s very calming, grounding and stabilizing while emptying the mind and creating a space of stillness and pure love connection. Perfect for meditation, in private or on the go!
I hope this benefits you as it has for me.
